It was an afternoon of hugs, smiles, handshakes, and applause as generous donors, appreciative students and proud parents and faculty came together for the eighth annual Celebration of Excellence of the College of Health and Human Sciences on a sunny May afternoon.
Nearly $400,000 in fellowships, scholarships and awards were presented to 207 students for the 2010-2011 academic year. A capacity crowd of 450 filled the OSU Alumni Center ballroom, enjoying refreshments and mingling with colleagues. OSU President Ed Ray thanked the donors who make the awards possible and acknowledged the excellence and perseverance of the students. Dean Tammy Bray recognized members of the college’s Capital Campaign Cabinet for their work to help the college reach the OSU Foundation $15 million goal that includes support for students.
Frances Webber ’41 was gratified to help seven students including from left: Brittany Joseph, Ciara Lynn, Kimberly Kroker, and Jenna Narrow with support from the Margaret Frances McGinnis Scholarship she established in 1993 in honor of her grandmother.
Tammy Bray greets Kathy and Ed Health whose generosity established a scholarship in their names that will support six students next year.
Jenna Caparoso brought Jean Roth ’42 a bouquet of yellow roses to thank her for the travel scholarship that enabled her to travel with Sharon Rosenkoetter to Washington, D.C. to present the research they conducted at a national conference.
Dinah ’74, ‘76 and Steve Nicholson were proud to meet Mohamed Alyajouri, recipient of the Schild-Nicholson Graduate Fellowship who is earning his master’s in international public health.
