I’m pleased to give all of our alumni yet another reason to be proud of OSU! News is out that, for the second year in a row, an Oregonian survey of high-achieving Portland students shows that the highest number, by far, targeted OSU as their school of choice. In fact, more than twice as many picked Oregon State as any other institution. Although official numbers aren’t out yet, it looks like we’ll have a record breaking 24,000+ students enrolled!
And many are joining our Health and Human Sciences Family! We welcomed 682 new students to our college this year, bringing our total student count to 3,171…the first time we have topped 3,000! Student ambassadors, advisors and faculty greeted new students at our HHS Welcome Picnic for food, games and mingling under brilliant Oregon sunshine! As with OSU, more than 70% of new students in our college are from Oregon. Beyond that, they hail from 13 states in the U.S. and ten foreign countries. A group of our new students gathered on the Quad during CONNECT Week for a photo then took the bagpipe-lead traditional New Student Walk to Gill Coliseum for a formal welcome by President Ray.
As our proud HHS Family grows, we are sharpening our focus on excellence – in and out of the classroom. We’re adding to our ranks of award winning faculty, engaging students in new ways to ensure their success, and offering unique research, outreach, internship, and international opportunities to give our graduates a competitive edge in today’s challenging job market.
