4-H Marine Ambassadors Camp wins university outreach award

The Ocean Watch 4-H Marine Ambassadors Camp has received the 2014 Outreach & Engagement Vice Provost Award for Excellence – Strategic Impact Award.

With outreach as its core mission, a College of Public Health and Human SciencesExtension and Public Health Practice program is being recognized for its efforts to engage local youth.

The Ocean Watch 4-H Marine Ambassadors Camp has received the 2014 Outreach & Engagement Vice Provost Award for Excellence – Strategic Impact Award.

The PHHS 4-H Youth Development team who organizes the camp will be recognized for their outstanding contributions that significantly advance the mission of outreach and engagement at the upcoming Outreach & Engagement Awards for Excellence luncheon – followed by the Outreach and Engagement Colloquium “Engaging the Future Generation of Learners” April 16. They will be presented with a plaque and a team award of $1,000.

The 4-H Marine Ambassadors Camp educates youth about the health of the ocean and how changes in the waters impact various ecosystems, human life and Oregon’s climate.

4-H youth take away a better understanding and awareness of marine science to share through outreach programs.
