It’s a unique event that bring together faculty and staff from across campus in the name of health and fitness – and a little friendly completion. Mark your calendars for Friday, June 9, and gather your co-workers for this unique event designed to remind us that it only takes a short amount of time to keep our bodies healthy and fit.
“This is your chance to celebrate with your work or exercise friends at the end of the school year,” says Dee Gillen, Faculty Staff Fitness (FSF) coordinator. “This event builds camaraderie in the workplace. It allows people to see the fun in fitness and helps us to celebrate having a program like FSF that makes it so convenient.”
The TRY-Athlon is now in its seventh year and aims to get people moving to build healthy minds, bodies and teams. Participants are encouraged to register now. If you would like to be a team captain, please email email@example.com and teams will be created in the registration system for remaining team members to sign-up.
This year, participants have the opportunity to either swim, run or walk on a six-member team. Power teams can also be created, consisting of 18 members who compete in all three events.
The event runs from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. and begins at the Langton pool for the swim portion of the event. The run and walk portions will take place at Student Legacy Park beginning at 12:15 p.m. Please note check-in and warm-up start times and be sure to stick around for the prize raffle, which begins at 12:45 p.m. The cost to participate in the TRY-Athlon is $5 per event.
Volunteers are also being sought; volunteer registration begins May 1. For more information, visit the event’s web page, call the Physical Activity Office at 541-737-3222, email firstname.lastname@example.org or stop by Langton Hall 123.
See you at the starting line!
