The College of Public Health and Human Sciences’ marketing team made a big impression at this year’s Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) conference in Portland, winning two awards in the District VIII Communication Awards competition.
Director of Communications and Alumni Relations Kathryn Stroppel and Web Coordinator Alan Calvert received a Gold award in the “Websites/Web Magazine (Periodical or Continual)” category for the Synergies online magazine.
Multimedia Communications Specialist Heather Turner received a Bronze award in the “Video & Multimedia/Student Recruitment Videos” category for the video titled “MPH student helps improve women’s health in Uganda.”
The video also received an Opportunity & Inclusion Endorsement for its achievement in the “Inclusion and Team” categories. The endorsement recognizes the video “exhibits visionary and insightful perspective about diverse populations and topics with respect to social justice, and/or confronts and/or resolves inequities of individuals from underrepresented populations.” It was also recognized for being produced by an individual who is new to the field of Advancement and Communications.
Oregon State University won a number of awards overall, including the CASE Commonfund Institutionally Related Foundation Award presented to OSU Foundation President and CEO Mike Goodwin, and the 2013 Leadership Award presented to Oregon State President Ed Ray.
“I’m really proud of the quality of work produced at Oregon State, and am especially happy our college team took home two awards,” Kathryn says. “Heather is dedicated to telling engaging, inspiring stories, and Alan has worked hard to achieve our shared vision of an online news site, Synergies, that showcases those stories. It’s an honor and pleasure to work with these two talented communicators.”
In 2012, the CPHHS received a Silver award in the “Best Overall Website” category for the college’s website.
