Video: CPHHS welcomes new students at annual CONNECT social

The College of Public Health and Human Sciences welcomed nearly 200 new students during its annual CONNECT social.

The College of Public Health and Human Sciences welcomed nearly 200 new students during its annual CONNECT social.

The event, held Sept. 26, included everything from informational booths about clubs, advising and alumni relations to networking opportunities, prizes and gelato!

“We really wanted to welcome them, talk to them, answer any questions they might have and let them know about the college, academic advising and other resources on campus that can help them be successful,” says PHHS Academic Advisor Andrea Nelson.

Students in Public Health, Nutrition, Exercise and Sport Science and Human Development and Family Sciences were able to mingle with faculty in their disciplines, meet new friends and even walk away with the college’s new “We Care” packages full of university-related information and promotional items.

“Meeting the professors and getting the student packet was very beneficial,” says Nutrition student Ryan Ou.

“It’s really good to meet other people from other states and countries who are interested in the same thing we are,” says Exercise and Sport Science student Amanda Matsuda.

“I’m most excited about the football games, meeting new people, going to classes and just getting that first-year college experience under my belt,” says student Dakota Train, who hopes to study Athletic Training.
