“I love giving back to the people who give to the Oregon State community. The faculty, staff, retirees, graduate students and spouses who attend these classes are the backbone to the university and I love seeing the smiles and lives enhanced by leading them through my or my staff’s fitness instruction.”
All of the people we interacted with were so gracious and kind. They went out of their way to make sure our trip was enjoyable and that we had everything we needed. The teachers in our groups asked great questions and were really engaged and interested in the conversations and activities we shared. I have even interacted with a few of them since leaving, and they have shared materials and videos of their own classes.
Since we moved here 12 years ago, my husband and I have fallen in love with Oregon in general and with Corvallis in particular. Though I was happily employed at the community college, I was also hoping to work for OSU’s College of Public Health and Human Sciences one day.
As a storyteller, I love meeting people and learning what makes them tick. At the college, that includes diverse students, alumni, industry leaders, supporters and, of course, faculty.
“What I love most about my job is getting the opportunity to positively impact those who take my classes,” says Physical Activity Courses Instructor Melinda Ameele.
