Across international boundaries and vastly different cultures, women face the threat of sexual violence and issues of gender equality and empowerment. Meghan Fitzgerald has seen it firsthand. More importantly, she is doing something about it.
Nearly 80 graduates of the former College of Home Economics met in Portland on Sept. 29. Dean Tammy Bray led the group on a journey from the college’s early beginnings to accreditation and where the college is headed in the future.
Kinesiology student McKenzie Redberg, a former Corvallis High School standout is playing for the Oregon State women’s soccer team, fulfilling a dream that was deferred, but not denied, by a four-year tour as a medic in the United States Air Force.
College of Public Health and Human Sciences faculty members – who are accomplished researchers, authors and presenters – actively engage in research with students to improve the lives, health and environment of people and their communities.
The CPHHS New Student Picnic featured a variety of events, including lunch, welcome activities, visits with student clubs, prizes and more.
“The ultimate goal is to get on the field. But no matter how much playing time I get – even if it’s one or two plays – it will have been worth it,” says OSU senior running back and Kinesiology student Shane Wallen.
