Former Oregon State University student-athlete and College of Public Health and Human Sciences alum Maureen Tremblay has been awarded a Pac-12 Postgraduate Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded to up to two student-athletes from each Conference school annually.
The hard work and success is Isaac’s. The inspiration, motivation and support is Mario Magana’s. Mario, a CPHHS associate professor, created the summer camps – one for migrant middle schoolers and another for multicultural campers – as a place for a diverse group of Oregon middle school students to converge and gain insight into their personal and career aspirations.
“I love giving back to the people who give to the Oregon State community. The faculty, staff, retirees, graduate students and spouses who attend these classes are the backbone to the university and I love seeing the smiles and lives enhanced by leading them through my or my staff’s fitness instruction.”
As fewer teens overall take up smoking, those who do smoke daily are reporting more health complaints than in years past, a new study indicates.
Two 2016 CPHHS public health graduates and recipients of an OSU Writing Intensive Curriculum Culture of Writing Award are both headed to graduate school. While in their undergraduate programs, Alyssa Rollins and Kodasha Thomas were recognized for their steadfastness and commitment to public health issues by their professors.
The 2016 David P. Beaver APA Professional Young Scholar Award has been presented to CPHHS Assistant Professor Megan MacDonald. The award is given annually to a young professional within the first seven years of his or her post-graduate career.
