Hyunyup Lee, a PhD student in HDFS, is first author on “Impact of combat exposure on mental health trajectories in later life: Longitudinal findings from the VA Normative Aging Study,” which is currently in press in Psychology and Aging. Hyunyup and his research team, including Professor Carolyn Aldwin and research associate Soyoung Choun, found that the increase in symptoms of anxiety and depression in late life was found only among combat veterans (largely from WWII and the Korean War); there was no change in symptoms among non-combat veterans in late life.
